Why I Drink Smoothies

Recently I’ve been a huge smoothie kick! I don’t particularly like fruit (I know, I’m weird!), so being able to blend it into a smoothie helps me get a healthy amount of fruit in a way that I enjoy. I even work some spinach in there…yum. Since I am picky, I wanted to share the recipe that I like best. Because if I like it, there probably aren’t many people who won’t!

My Everyday Smoothie

I have tried Daily Harvest and several different smoothie recipes from fitness and lifestyle bloggers that I follow. I have learned what I like and don’t like, and the recipe I have settled on is a variation of Rachael’s Good Eats Glow-To smoothie. Her original one is freaky good! I have just changed a few small things to fit my specific taste. And here’s what I’ve landed on…

  1. 1 Cup Almond Milk (I like unsweetened but Vanilla is yummy too)

  2. 1 Cup of Ice Cubes

  3. 1/3 Cup Frozen Blueberries

  4. 1/3 Cup Frozen Raspberries

  5. 1/3 Cup Frozen Spinach

  6. 1 tbsp Cacao Powder

  7. 1 tbsp Ground Flax Seed

  8. 1 scoop of Orgain Collagen Peptides

  9. 1 scoop of Chocolate Protein Powder (optional)

You can find some of the ingredients on this Amazon board. You should be able to get everything at your local grocery store as well.

When I Drink Smoothies

Let’s be clear…this is not a snack! This is a meal. I will make them for breakfast before work or sometimes for lunch on the weekend after a workout. I find that it fills me up for 5-6 hours and keeps me from feeling bloated like a breakfast of simple carbs would. Being able to get in the 12 grams of protein from the collagen peptides is a huge bonus too! If you want to make it more substantial, do 1/2 cups instead of 1/3 cups of spinach, raspberries and blueberries.

Other Recipes

Not everyone will be into my fave, I get that! Here are some other recipes that may tickle your fancy…

Whether you’re on-the-go or chilling at home, a smoothie is a perfect, quick and satisfying meal to help you beat the bloat and enjoy yourself while doing it! If you have any smoothie recs, let me know. I would love to share them!

Daily Harvest Review

I shared a code with you guys on my IG stories to try out Daily Harvest. I have done it for a week and wanted to let you know my thoughts since lots of you were interested last time I shared about it. So here’s the deal:

  1. I liked the taste of 4/6 cups I ordered

  2. It was super easy and quick to make them in the morning

  3. The convenience of the disposable cup and lid were awesome

  4. Some of them make too much and won’t fit back into the cup though

  5. I could make the same smoothies for less $$ per week

Will I order Daily Harvest weekly? No. Will I order it occasionally? Yes! I think it is a great way to see what smoothies you like and to get ideas for recipes. On weeks when I know that I am really busy, I will order again just out of pure convenience. Now that I know which smoothies I prefer, I would love to try some of their soups and veggie meals. I don’t think the price is justifiable as a weekly expense at this point in my life, but once a month or so I could get on board! I hope this honest review helps you decide if Daily Harvest is right for you!
