 2018 in Review

2018 held the sweetest moments and biggest changes of my life. This year was full of new adventures, challenges, places, people and things I never expected. It has been 365 days of growth and learning experiences that I wouldn't change for the world. Maybe some of the things that I learned and mistakes I made will help you reflect on changes in your own life and blessings you’ve encountered over the past year. Here’s a recap to fill you in.

What I did…

  • I moved to Greenville, South Carolina from Nashville, TN

  • I lived with my in-laws (and loved it)

  • I started a new job as a Copywriter at a marketing firm in Greenville

  • I moved to Spartanburg

  • I married my college crush

  • We honeymooned in Punta Cana

  • I started a new job in September, I also quit said job in September

  • I welcomed two nieces into the world, one on July 14 and one on August 29

  • I launched the Public Display of Accessories jewelry line

  • I promoted to Beautycounter Manager

  • I gained back all the weight I lost for my wedding, yay

  • I was in 5 weddings, 6 if you count my own

What I learned…

  • The location of a job is not nearly as important as who you work with

  • I am not a good waitress

  • When you have the chance to travel and see loved ones, you always should

  • You have to take chances to pursue what you are passionate about

  • No one cares about what you’re doing as much as you think they do. So do what makes you happy

  • The best things happen outside your comfort zone

  • New friends can quickly become best friends

  • You have to be really intentional to keep up with friends who don’t live near you

  • Living with a boy is both a blessing and a curse

  • Sometimes, “fake it til you make it” actually works

  • Taxes are confusing

What I loved…

  • Moving in with my best friend

  • Spending several weekends celebrating my besties and their marriages

  • Meeting my sister’s baby, Maxwell

  • Having all of my family, friends and loved ones in the same place for our rehearsal dinner and wedding. There are truly no words to thank you all for celebrating with us

  • Joining a small group and sharing joys and struggles with a new group of people

  • Growing Public Display of Accessories and getting to know a lot of you personally via the internet ;)

  • Going on a beach trip with my best friends from high school and college

  • Dancing, a lot

  • Getting stronger. I spent a lot of time weight lifting and distance running, which is new for me

What challenged me…

  • Moving. It took a few months for me to get adjusted

  • Being the breadwinner for our household while Hunter is in school

  • Balancing my 9-5, my blog, my freelance work and household chores

  • Staying consistent with eating healthy and fueling my body

  • Pushing myself to make friends with total strangers. I had quite a few random coffee outings, but they all turned out being good friends

  • Spending my first Christmas away from my parents and siblings, but loved being with Hunter’s family

My takeaways…

God has blessed me so big. Every struggle or challenge that I have is a result of a huge blessing. Each great thing pushed me one step further outside my little box and now I am beyond thankful for that. I have not a thing to complain about. I am so undeserving of the way He loves me and I can’t even fathom why He places so much joy in my life. He picks me up each time I fall, and thats a lot. 2018 was a year I will never forget and I can’t wait to kickoff 2019. Thank you, Jesus for another trip around the globe.

Cheers to 2019!
