The Location

After spending 4 days at The Sohotel during New York Fashion Week 2019, I can say with confidence that this hotel is the perfect spot for your weekend vacay! I don't know about you, but when I travel I want to stay somewhere with personality. I can stay at the Holiday Inn anytime, but when I am in a cool city, I want an EXPERIENCE and not just a hotel. We stumbled onto The Sohotel and it is SUCH A GEM. If you want to stay somewhere spunky and instagrammable, look no further. This hotel would be an ideal spot for a girls trip or even a weekend getaway with your significant other. It is in Soho, so it is surrounded by amazing restaurants and shopping. (Side note: It is about 30 minutes, or a $50 Uber from LGA) We entertained ourselves for two whole days without even getting in a cab or on the subway. It is super close to the popular areas Little Italy and China Town. Prince Street is a really happening area and it is about a 5 minute walk from the Sohotel. It is attached to two restaurants so if you are tired or want an early dinner or cocktail before going out on the town, you have access to it right there.

Some of our favorite nearby restaurants were The Mac Bar, Wo Hop, Jack’s Wife Freda and Lucky Strike.

The Vibe

As soon as you step inside, you'll be in love. The exposed brick, dim lighting and pops of animal print are a major vibe. All of the rugs are gorgeous bright colors and they really made me rethink my "always neutral" attitude about home decor. Basically, it is so dang cute.

The Rooms

We had a deluxe room with a king bed. There were two of us and this room was the perfect size! It was so much more spacious than what we expected for a NYC hotel. It had a lock box, a fridge with complimentary water, a flat screen TV with allll the channels and a beautiful bathroom with heated floors. It really was just right for us! I would absolutely stay here again.

The Staff

I can’t say enough great things about the staff here. They were able to accommodate an early check-in and late check-out for us, which was so helpful because of our flight schedule. They even have a phone number you can text from your room if you have questions or need assistance. One night we were eating leftovers and realized we didn’t have forks. One quick text to the front desk and they brought them straight to our room. Our room was serviced and cleaned every time we left, which may not seem like a big deal, but coming back to Dove chocolate on the counter and new water bottles in the fridge was wonderful after a super long day.

Things to Note

The Sohotel is the oldest hotel in New York City. Because of its historic architecture, there is no elevator. So keep that in mind if you are traveling with someone who has a disability or is elderly. They offer coffee and tea, but have no options for breakfast. This is not a big deal at all because like I said, it is surrounded by the best restaurants and brunch places, but it might be good to know that before you come so that you can throw a few granola bars in your bag just in case you're in a hurry one morning.

Overall

I would go back in an instant! We felt so welcome and loved that we could explore just by stepping outside of our hotel. If you have any specific questions about The Sohotel, send me a message! I would love to tell you more about it. I can guarantee, it’ll make your whole trip! Major thanks to The Sohotel for hosting me during New York Fashion Week! Same time, same place in September?
