July 4th

Can you believe that it is almost JULY!? Where has this year gone? I am so excited to spend some time vacationing with my family for the 4th. I am definitely going to be shopping my own blog post for an outfit and something to cook and bring because I am a little behind this year! Whew, it crept up on me! But here we are, a week away from the 4th and I’ve got quite a few things to share with you!

Swimsuits

I am taking a wild guess (and following the hunch from an Instagram poll) that the majority of you will be spending time near a body of water on the 4th of July. Whether it be a pool, lake or beach, you’ll need the perfect swimsuit! These are super cute and patriotic, without being too cheesy. I added some cover-ups too, in case you want something to throw on over your swimmy!

Outfit Ideas

Maybe you are going to a barbecue, a fireworks show, hanging around the house or having lunch with your family. Whatever your plans are, try to add a pop of red, white or blue into your outfit! I love these pieces and tried to give you some more subtle options and then some good ole USA options as well!

Accessories

If you’re going to be outside, you need to accessorize with some cute but comfy pieces. I love adding a bandanna or hair scarf to keep my hair off my forehead. Some simple, summery earrings would be a great touch as well! These are some of my personal favorites.

Broccoli Salad

This is the recipe for my new favorite broccoli salad! I made it on Monday and we already ate ALL of it. I found it on Pinterest (thanks Lisa from Downshiftology!), it is super easy and takes maybe 10 minutes to prepare. Since it is a cold salad, I think it would be the perfect addition to a 4th of July party, to eat on the beach or as a snack by the pool. Not to mention, it is healthy AND delicious!

Red, White and Berry Trifle

You may have seen me make this quick and easy dessert on Memorial Day. I love following Living with Landyn and I definitely enjoyed making (and eating) her trifle! It is a light dessert, super yummy and beyond easy! I recommend putting it in the freezer for a few hours before serving it. It made the texture even better! And a hack…if you don’t want to worry with making angel food cake, look in the frozen section of your grocery store for the pre-made loaves of pound cake. It works just the same and takes half the time!

Chocolate Berry Bark

I haven’t tried this one, but I plan to! This recipe is compliments of Graceful Little Honey Bee, and it looks amazing! I love using Greek Yogurt in recipes because it is such a good substitute that keeps your meal healthy and still mouth-water worthy. It look so easy and I can’t wait to try it!

I hope that you have a Happy 4th of July! I am so thankful for the USA, our independence, the people who fight for it and for my family that I can celebrate with!
